Trevor Hartshorn World Champion for Junior Boy All-Around, Dally Ribbon Roping

On July 2- July 7, 2019, Trevor Hartshorn competed in the 2019 National Little Britches Rodeo Association Finals at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. Trevor is the 14 year old son of Travis and Jennifer Hartshorn of Hermosa, S.D.

He is the grandson of Roy and Judy Riggs of Alliance, NE and Lyle and Donna Hartshorn of Rapid City, S.D. Trevor attended various regional National Little Britches Rodeos and competed in 6 events to accumulate points throughout the year. At this year’s finals rodeo, he competed in his last year of the Junior Boys division in Bareback Steer Riding, Flag Racing, Team Roping, Dally Ribbon Roping, and Breakaway Roping.

There were over 1200 contestants, 5 to 19 years of age, from all over the Unites States. Trevor struggled through some events but was able to shine in several. He was awarded with buckles and trophy spurs in Flag Racing, Bareback Steer Riding and Ribbon roping for each round.

In the end, Trevor and his partner, Gabe Glines, of Chadron, won the National Championship saddles for the Dally Ribbon Roping. The highlight of the week was when Trevor was given the Junior Boy All-Around World Championship Saddle. This prize is given to the junior boy competitor with the most points in all of their events for the whole year. Trevor accomplished this with just 14 points more than his closest competitor.

This young man is now moving up to the Senior division and is looking forward to the new challenges and competing with the big boys in Tie-Down Roping, Team Roping, and Steer Wrestling.

He came home with 11 buckles, 3 pairs of trophy spurs, two saddles, scholarships, hats, boots, jeans and a Yeti cooler. There were some phenomenal prizes that went with those world champion saddles.
