Juniors, Seniors Dominate Chadron in Shutout
The Spartans were flying high moving into weekend tournaments in North Platte and Gering after both the Juniors and Seniors claimed victory over Chadron Thursday, each team preventing Chadron from posting one run.
The Juniors set the pace for the night, chalking up a total of 10 runs and shutting Chadron in the process. They traveled to Gering for a weekend filled with action, emerging with a 2-1 record.
They started the weekend with a heartbreaker, falling to B&C Steel of Gering with a final score of 6-5. They bounced back, however, in their next game, shutting out Wheatland, Wyo. on Friday night with a final score of 12-0.
The Juniors wrapped up their weekend with a Saturday victory against the Buckley Bombers, posting a final score of 8-6. With three more games under their belts, the Juniors are 11-6 for the season.
The Seniors carried on the pace set by the Juniors Thursday, scoring a total of 14 runs over Chadron and bringing the game to a close. They made the trek to North Platte where they went 3-0. On Friday, the Seniors saw action taking on the Legion Jerseys Seniors from Kearney and First National of North Platte.
The Spartans posted a 6-1 victory over Kearney, moving on to chalk up a 5-3 win against North Platte. On Saturday, the Seniors shut out Ogallala with an 8-0 victory. After the successful weekend in North Platte, the Spartans are 10-3 for the season.
The Spartans saw action in Sidney on Tuesday night, however, the results were not available as of press time.
