A three touchdown second period powered the Scottsbluff seventh grade football team past Alliance 42 to 0 in a contest played at Bearcat stadium on Saturday. The Cats added scores in each on the final 2 quarters to cruise to the win. With the lose, AMS sees their record go to 0 and 2 on the year.
Alliance got he ball first and went 3 and out. The Cats used the good field position and scored midway thought the opening minutes to go up 8 to 0. Alliance did get a nice kick return from Jake Cotton on the ensuing possession and then added a first down to get close. The first period ended with the Bluffs ahead 8 to 0. The Dogs were denied on fourth down turning the ball back to the Bearcats. Another long touchdown run by the hosts made the score 14 to 0. On the following kickoff, the Cats recovered the kick and quickly turned it to another score. The PAT was good, making the score 22 to 0. Right before half the Cats scored again on a 75 yard touchdown run. At half, AMS was down 28 to 0.
Scottsbluff received the second half kick and immediately went on the attack. A 25 yard touchdown run made the score 36 to 0 midway through period 3. An Alliance fumble on the ensuing kick gave the Bearcats great field position as the period ended with the Bluffs up 36 to 0. In the final stanza the Cats scored again and held the Dogs scoreless. Leading rushers for the Bulldogs were Jarron Santos, Cotton, and Drayden Sanchez. Top tacklers were Cotton and Sanchez. Cotton made several stops from his linebacker position.
In an 8 minute B game, Alliance stopped the Cats on their lone possession. A long run by Sanchez of 35 yards got the Dogs close. Sanchez would then score from the 2 yard line for the only points of the contest.

"The long touchdown right before half was a back breaker. Two big mistakes on kick returns also hurt. Overall our tackling did improve but still having trouble with our blocking. The coaches are seeing some good things especially from Cotton on defense who seems to be in on every tackle," said Coach Mark Glesinger.
Alliance will be at home on Saturday, taking on Sidney at 9:00.
