The Alliance Middle School Wrestlers grappled last week in back to back competitions.

The Alliance wrestlers competed last Thursday and Friday. Thursday. They wrestled at home in a Quadrangular Dual Tournament held at the Alliance Middle school against teamsfrom  North Platte, Ogallala and Sidney. “The Tournament was cool because it is two duals going on at the same time on two different mats,” said Wells. Each team duals the other teams once, so there were three rounds of duals. The team that won the most matches won the dual and the team that won the most duals won the tournament. This year’s prize was a bucket filled with candy bars, which the winner was able to take home. This year’s winner was Ogallala.

The Alliance wrestlers performed very well, winning their dual against North Platte with stand out matches won by Riley Picket Pin, Whiley Hardy, Tyler Cotton, Aaron Seebohm, and Lucas Smith. They then went on to tie against Sidney, and lose to Ogallala. “I was very impressed with how hard we wrestled on Thursday. Our wrestlers looked very impressive. I am very proud of how they continue to improve,” said Wells.

The very next day, Friday, the Alliance Bullpup wrestlers were right back at it, wrestling in a small round robin tournament in Bridgeport. There were only three teams there, including Bayard.” This tournament went very fast. “I didn’t feel we wrestled our best because we were still tired from the previous day’s matches. We lost some matches that we should have won.” But there were still good matches, and the Alliance wrestlers tried their hearts out and kept grinding.

The Bullpup grapplers were supposed to have been in action the following Saturday as well, but, that tournament was cancelled due weather. The AMS wrestlers are in action for their last time this year in Scottsbluff Saturday, Dec. 8.
