Alliance Varsity Softball Goes 2-2 at Invitational

Over the weekend, the Alliance Bulldogs Varsity and JV Softball were in Scottsbluff and Gering for the 2019 Twin City Invitational. Alliance Varsity Went 2-2 and Alliance JV went 1-1.

Friday, the Alliance JV played Sterling and came out with a 10-5 victory. Saturday, the Alliance JV played Chase County and lost 15-16.

Alliance Varsity faced the Gering Bulldogs in game one Friday, falling 3-9. Taylor Manion led Alliance with three hits.

Alliance Varsity then faced Sterling in game two. The Bulldogs won 7-5 with Aubrey Garrett's walk off three run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. Garrett and Manion led the Bulldogs with two hits each in the game. Jaycee Acosta pitched all seven innings, striking out seven.

The last game Friday was against Chase County, were the Bulldogs defeated the Longhorns 12-2. Erika Bucy, Shaylee Messersmith and Aubrey Garrett led the Bulldogs hitting with 2 hits a piece. Payten Gibson pitched four innings allowing two hits, three runs and striking out five.

Alliance Varsity's 2-1 record Friday placed them number two in Pool B. Saturday they faced the number two seed from Pool A, Gothenburg and lost 0-13.

Aubrey Garrett and Jaycee Acosta earned honors by being selected to the all-tournament team.

The Bulldogs’ next games will be home against Chadron on Tuesday, September 17 and then an invitational in North Platte September 21.
