The Bulldogs were on the road Friday (Jan. 18)as they traveled to Ogallala, where they took on the Indians in a close matchup. The boys fell just short of pulling off a victory, losing to Ogallala by just three points.
Friday's loss drops Alliance's season record to 12-3. Despite the loss, Head Coach Michael Baker was impressed with the game, noting that the players gave it their all against a strong team.
"Outstanding high school basketball game. Fast paced action throughout. Our talent was on display early as Alliance jumped out to the early lead. Ogallala narrowed the gap to five at halftime. Ogallala took the lead mid third quarter and was able to hold on," said Baker.
Ogallala and Alliance displayed a strong defense throughout the game, Baker noted. He emphasized that the game was a learning experience for the Bulldogs as they continue to advance through the season.
"Both teams turned the ball over more than they usually do, in part to the defensive effort of both teams," Baker said. "Good experience for our boys to have to play from behind in the third quarter as we have not been in that position much this season. One or two more shots go in for us and we win. We learned some valuable things about our team and will profit from this game as our season progresses."
The Alliance Bulldogs will take on the Gering Bulldogs on Friday at home, and will then travel to North Platte on Saturday.
