ALLIANCE — Spring has arrived and with it, an exceptionally nice influx of weather. It is hard to believe we are only six months away from our grand opening of the new addition; however, Beckenhauer Construction has been hard at work to meet that October target. From an external perspective, the brick work is complete and all the windows are in place. Right now workers are spending time on the detail work, including: the stone feature below the windows, the glass spandrels, and the bronze window art on the west and south side of the building. For all intents and purposes, we are 99 percent complete on the exterior portion of this project.
Rough grading of the ground started this week on the west side of the new addition, so construction staff can pour the parking lots, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. The west and south gutter, curb, and paving begin April 13 and will continue through the month of June. With that, we will also focus on exterior lighting, irrigation, and finally landscaping toward the month of July.
As for essential equipment for the new building, workers have poured the pads for the two additional chillers (air conditioners) and additional generator on the northeast side. Shortly thereafter that piece is complete; they will install the above ground diesel storage tank, which serves as bulk storage fuel for the generators when they are operating.
Internally, the second floor is moving along quite well with paint on the walls, cabinets installed, ceramic flooring complete, the ceiling grid for the acoustic ceiling is finished, and the wall tile just arrived. Once we get the wall tiles mounted, workers can start installing plumbing fixtures including toilets, sinks, showers, and more.
The first floor framing for the most part is completely finished, with a small amount needed in the basement area. Sheet rocking is progressing nicely on the first floor and we are even starting to get some paint and cabinetry installed as well.
All in all, we are fortunate to be able to say we are still on schedule for completion the beginning of October.
