Alberta J. “Bert” Conroy

Alberta J. “Bert” Conroy, 81, a woman of faith, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.  She was surrounded by her family in her home in Hazel Green.  Graveside services and burial will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Eddyville, Nebraska.  Friends may call from 2-2:45 p.m. Friday at the graveside before the service.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Community Center in Oconto, Nebraska, following the burial.  Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, Wisconsin, is serving the family.

Bert was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandma and loyal friend.   She was born and raised in what she referred to as “God’s Country” Nebraska, the daughter of Victor C. and Lena V. (Streeton) McGaughey.  She married Louis M. Conroy on November 19, 1955, in Oconto, Nebraska.  Bert was an avid sports fan who was fiercely loyal to her Huskers and Broncos.  She took great pleasure playing cards and spending time with those she loved.  Bert was an exceptionally hard working woman.  She spent 25 plus years working with the elderly as a CNA. After retirement she worked ten years for Walmart in the bakery department.  Upon her second retirement in 2013 she relocated to Hazel Green, Wisconsin, to be with her daughter. Those who knew her best would describe her as spunky, competitive, having a witty sense of humor, all wrapped up in a generous spirit and compassionate heart.  Fly home my beautiful butterfly!

Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Mike) Brummer, Hazel Green, Wisconsin, two sons, Doyle (Jodi) Conroy, Alliance, Nebraska, and Daniel Conroy, Orlando, Florida; a sister-in-law, Betty Conroy; Oconto, Nebraska; a brother-in-law, John Conroy, Oconto, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Michelle (Travis) Hunter, Heather Conroy, Holly (Brian) North, Caitlin (Charlie) Schwann, Owen Brummer, and Allison Brummer, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vic and Lena; her husband, Louis; her sons, Doug, David and infant twin sons, Peter and Paul; a grandson, Michael; and a sister, Gladys Conroy.

In lieu of flowers donations will be given to hospice.
