Point of Rock Chapter NSDAR Installs New Member


Point of Rock Chapter, NSDAR, met for a dessert Meeting at Rosewood Estates, Jan. 11, 2020. There were six members present and Pat Sherlock was the hostess with a delicious dessert. Regent Audrey Hoerler led us in the Creed and Pledge of Allegiance. The President General’s Message was read thanking us for taking leadership roles in our local chapters and challenging us to be the spark that starts a fire in another Daughter to shine our light for all to see.

National Defense report: Could we pass the Naturalization Civics Test? There are 100 questions on the test. Immigrants becoming citizens will be asked 10 of these questions in English and must correctly answer six of the 10. We realized that Civics should be taught in all schools. Service in the Military is one of several pathways to citizenship.

Very Important News for Nebraska from State Regent Suzanne Jarman: Eva Knight in memory of Ruth and Florence Knight, and of her husband Bob’s involvement in CAR has donated money for the restoration of the Nebraska Seal and to restore the Nebraska Box in Constitution Hall. All three Knight ladies served as Regent of Point of Rock.

The State Conference will be in Grand Island March 26-28.

There were no Secretary or Treasurer reports. At the December meeting, five were present and signed Christmas cards for hospitalized veterans. They had a pot luck luncheon.

Instillation of New Member: Lynne Messersmith was installed in Point of Rock, NSDAR, her paperwork has been completed and accepted at National. Welcome Lynne.

Pat was thanked for being our hostess. Next month Audrey will be the Hostess.
