The Alliance Fraternal Order of Eagles were visited by the National Grand Madame President and the State Madame President on Monday evening, where they were welcomed to Alliance by Vice Mayor Brian Mischnick.

Mischnick presented Grand Madame President Gloria Williams and State Madame President Pam Beiermann with welcome to Alliance pins from the City.

Williams spoke to the group about charities that she is working to support. The first charity she spoke about was the Special Olympics, noting it as a nonprofit organization that provides an outlet for the developmentally disabled to gain confidence in their abilities by competing in various activities.

Alliance FOE Secretary Klara Serl presented Williams with a check for $300 for the Special Olympics at the meeting, funds which were raised by the chapter.

Williams then spoke to the people in attendance about Bridge to the Cure, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center. The center is dedicating to developing a cure for diabetes through independently funded research.

Williams noted that the FOE funded their research with a $25 million gift. The research that was funded by the gift has raised an additional $270 million in grants.
