“Early Morning” by Tom Samson is winner of the best in show award.

Judging is complete for the Box Butte Art Society “Spring Show.”

There was an incredible amount of diverse talent from local artists of all ages. The judge analyzed Box Butte Art Society members’ pieces by accessing the overall concept, color, use of value, and balanced composition of the work. The show has only two categories, youth and adult.

The award winners were as follows: Best of show went to Tom Samson for “Early Morning.” Certificates of Excellence were awarded to: Amanda Pruneda for “Lizzy”; Becci Thomas for “Ground Control to Major Tom”; and Kyren Gibson for “Kissy Face.”

Honorable Mentions were awarded to: Joy Price for “Mini Needles”; Sandi Blankenship for “Conformity in Chaos”; Linda Lacy for “Country Roots; and John Miller for “Autumn Splendor.”

Youth Certificate of Excellence went to Izabella Hernandez for “The Deceiver.” Youth Honorable Mention went to Harley Hill for “Growth.”

In addition to the Box Butte Art Society artists there were 24 pieces entered by student artists. These young artists entered their work to compete for the Box Butte Art Society College Scholarship. The award recipient was Sydnie Waldron.
