BBGH is happy to announce at the annual Employee Recognition Dinner Friday January 3rd, Surgical Coordinator Erica Smith was announced as the 2019 Employee of the Year!
Erica is a Registered Nurse and has worked at BBGH for 5 years this July. She originally started out as a Surgical Staff Nurse. After doing that for two years, she applied for the Surgical Coordinator position, and got it. She has been in that position ever since. She said, “Over the last three years I have been given many opportunities to grow. I would not be able to do what I do best without the great team I am fortunate to work with every day. Surgery has many components to make a typical day functional. As a team we work very hard to provide excellent care to all our patients. The professional relationships that have developed allow for department growth and a safe environment for all involved. I feel fortunate to come to work with a team that has one goal: to provide excellent care.”
BBGH CEO Lori Mazanec said, “Erica is one of our many superstars. She has been recognized by both peers and patients for her gentleness and compassion. You can tell by her interactions with patients and coworkers she truly loves being a nurse. This is a great start to 2020 being the Year of the Nurse. BBGH is blessed to have Erica here and a part of our great staff. Congratulations, Erica!”
Following is the nomination by a fellow employee earning Erica the Employee of the Month selection in December, and ultimately the Employee of the Year choice:
“Erica Smith is one of the best employees at Box Butte General Hospital because of her dedicated, caring, and giving nature. There are many people who can attest to her kindness, selflessness, and willingness to give the best care. She has an understanding personality with a heart of gold. Her devotion to the job and patient care is clear in her attitude and behavior, which shows her commitment to safety and compassion. Whenever I see her with patients and coworkers I know those people are going to have a positive experience here at BBGH. She demonstrates the value of integrity in its fullest. She gives her undivided attention to all she encounters. That is the culture we aim to provide for all, whether you are a visitor, patient, or employee. She genuinely cares for patients and coworkers’ wellbeing and wants nothing but the best care and environment to work in. She is consistently working on ways to improve the department, organization, and care for patients. Erica expresses the values of the organization in the best way possible, by example. She is a noteworthy coworker, caregiver, and employee.”
