At its meeting last Tuesday, the Alliance City Council proclaimed the week of Oct. 6-12 as Fire Prevention Week.

Council Member Earl Jones read the proclamation, noting that fire is a public safety concern both locally and nationally.

The proclamation encourages residents to plan and practice a home fire escape plan, drawing a map of every level of the home.

Fire Prevention Week serves as a reminder to take steps to increase personal safety from fire.
