Box Butte County Highway Superintendent Barbara Keegan has received a Special Recognition Award from the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association (NIRMA), the county’s property, liability and workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services provider.
The announcement of her selection was made during an awards banquet held in conjunction with the annual membership conference the organization presented Oct. 3-4 in York for officials and employees in Nebraska counties and related public agencies that participate in the risk management and self-insurance program.
Keegan was recognized for her proactive bridge and road signing program, ensuring her department’s operating policies and procedures are current, providing regular training for her employees and her ongoing efforts to promote safety.
It marks the third time Keegan has been honored by NIRMA, the others coming in 2011 and 2004.
Each year NIRMA honors those members and individuals who demonstrate a commitment to reducing potential risks, liability exposures and claim costs.
NIRMA was created by 32 counties in 1988 as Nebraska’s first risk management and self-insurance program for county governments. Today, NIRMA serves 82 counties and 20 associated public entities.
