Traffic came to a standstill on Highway 385 Thursday afternoon after a semi and SUV collided, resulting in one driver being air lifted and the other driver receiving a citation.
According to Deputy Jonathan Starke with the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office, a Farmer’s Coop semi, driven by Howard Link was eastbound on 7E link. He failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 385.
“He ended up striking a white Subaru Forester that was headed northbound,” said Starke.
The driver of the Subaru Forester, Michael Harris, was air lifted from the scene. Starke said Harris’ condition has improved since the wreck.
“I spoke with a family member, and they said that he was up walking, but that he had some pain in his body in some places,” said Starke.
The Subaru was totaled in the accident, Starke noted, and the semi sustained over $1,000 of damage.
