Alliance Public Library Blasting off into Its Final Week of Summer Reading Program

The Alliance Public Library is blasting off into its final week of the Summer Reading Program “A Universe of Stories”! During library hours, daily crafts include Paper Plate UFOs on Monday, UFO Windchimes on Tuesday, Space Nebula Jars (outside) on Wednesday, Robots on Thursday, and Blast Off to the Moon Game on Friday.

Featured programs include Space t-shirts on Tuesday, June 25 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., for those who pre-registered. Wednesday, June 26 will be Space Camp for kids on the library lawn. Come any time between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and train like an astronaut with games and crafts. At 3:00 p.m., we will announce the winners of the 3-D solar system and alien/robot building contests.

Thursday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. will be an event for adults and families, featuring the Main Street Players with space-themed improvisational theater in the Community Room. The Main Street Players will take ideas from the audience, bring them to life and tickle your funny bone! For this evening of entertainment, you are welcome to bring your supper with you, with cookies and beverages graciously provided by the Alliance Public Library Foundation!

For all reading contests and logs for all ages, please return all information to the library by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28. Winners of the four grand prizes will be drawn that day from all those who completed the five weeks of reading and brought their logs in to be stamped on time each week.

Please contact Elaine Bleisch, Children and Youth Librarian or Cynthia Horn, Outreach and Adult Services Librarian at 762-1387 for more information.
